The 4^th meeting of the Freshwater Ecosystem Network took place on the 12^th and 13^th July in Pretoria.

The first day focused on training on  wetland mapping, while the second day constituted the main FEN meeting.  Some of the thematic areas under which several discussions and presentations were made include:

• Updates from the Department of Water and Sanitation on the implementation of the National Water Resource Strategy 2 as well as the water resource classification;
• Integrating freshwater ecosystem matters into SPLUMA; and
• The National Biodiversity Assessment 2018: Freshwater component
